POSITION SUMMARY:
The Artist on Tour Program Lead is a vital leadership role within the Education & Community Engagement (ECE) department. This position is designed to integrate program delivery, data strategy, and long-term planning within the ECE department. As such, this position will:

  • Take on increased leadership responsibility for artist and community relationships.
  • Provide strategic input to department leadership.
  • Advance a culture of evaluation and reflection within the ECE team.
  • Function a leadership-track that aligns closely with cross-departmental planning, ensuring CAA’s community-facing arts programs are responsive, measurable, and sustainable.
This position serves as the primary liaison to touring artists, schools, and relationship development with community partners to Artists on Tour thus ensuring smooth coordination of engagements and fostering strong, inclusion-centered relationships across the region. In addition, the role provides essential support for high-profile initiatives including the Overture Awards, SchoolTime performances, and other special projects, contributing to CAA’s mission to educate, inspire, and serve the community through the arts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the senior point of contact for the Artist on Tour (AOT) program, managing all performance coordination, artist engagement, and community partnerships.
  • Leading the strategic growth of the AOT program.
  • Lead the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of new artists.
  • Overseeing fair access to AOT programming across schools and communities.
  • Coordinating organization, documentation, and follow-up to all engagements.
  • Ensuring artistic quality and alignment with community needs.
  • Prepare and manage booking summaries, contracts, invoices, and payment documentation.
  • Conduct site visits and assess program quality and artist engagement.
  • Strategically expand program’s reach through community partnerships and engagement.
Support department-wide planning and implementation efforts:
  • Providing operational and logistical support for programs.
  • Collaborating on cross-functional initiatives and new program development.
  • Supporting partnerships and special projects that align with CAA’s community engagement goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in arts education or community engagement (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program coordination, data tracking, and impact reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Customer Relationship Management Platforms (CRMs), database systems, or ticketing platforms preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, diligence in detail, and ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Proven commitment to, inclusion, accessibility, and community-centered practices.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, mission-driven nonprofit environment.
